Peyamner daily:

A lorry carrying materials exploded at a checkpoint near Kirkuk today at 0700. Two civilians and a police officer were wounded in the explosion.A source from the Kirkuk police told Peyamner that the lorry exploded at the Pirde checkpoint near Kirkuk. It injured two civilians as well as a police officer and damaged a police van.

Al Jazeera:

The Iraqi police said that 11 Iraqis, including six children and three women, were killed in a US air bombardment on Al-Ishaqi north of Baghdad. However, a US army spokesman told AFP that it targeted a house in Balad suspected of accommodating elements from Al-Qa'idah and that it used air and land forces after confronting a hostile force, which led to the deaths of four people, including two women and a child.

A spokesman for the British army in Basra said that a British soldier was wounded and that his armoured vehicle was disabled in an explosion against a British patrol in the Al-Ma'qil area in the centre of the city.

In Baghdad, the police said that three Iraqis were wounded when a car bomb exploded near a restaurant in Al-Talibiyah in the east of the capital. The sources added that the car bomb was parked on the roadside.

In a press statement, the Association of Muslim Scholars in Iraq said that a unit of the Iraqi army's Al-Muthanna Brigade arrested more than 100 people in the Abu-Ghurayb area in western Baghdad.

In another press statement, the AMS said that gunmen assassinated Husayn Turki Umayr, imam and preacher of Prophet Musa Mosque in Al-Miqdadiyah, and that police forces arrested AMS member Salah al-Din Hadi and 25 other people in Babil south of Baghdad. - MIDEASTWIRE.COM, Middle East
