Al Sharqiyah TV:

Ayham al-Samarra'i, leader of the Independent Iraqis Grouping, survived an assassination attempt in the Al-Yarmuk area west of Baghdad. Al Sharqiyah correspondent said Al-Samarra'i was headed towards the headquarters of the Iraqi Islamic Party located in Al-Dakhiliyah neighbourhood in the area of Al-Yarmuk to attend a meeting of a number of political leaders, when an explosive device went off as his convoy was passing. Two of his bodyguards sustained serious injuries and were transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment.
