Al Sharqiyah TV:

The Iraqi police said that one Iraqi was martyred and two others were wounded in a bomb explosion near Tikrit, north of Baghdad. A police source in the city said that the explosion took place at 0900 today in Albu Ajil area, 6 km east of Tikrit, in Salah-al-Din Governorate.

There has been a failed attempt to release prisoners from a police centre in Al-Iskandariyah. Nine of the assailants were arrested, one of whom was wounded. Al-Iskandariyah police director said that gunmen attacked a police centre in northern Al-Iskandariyah in a bid to release detainees. He said that Iraqi policemen and army personnel clashed with the gunmen. He added: "We managed to capture nine assailants, one of whom was wounded. We also defused an explosive device that was in their possession during the attack, which took place at midnight last night." He said that there were casualties among the Iraqi police and army.

A British soldier was wounded when an explosive charge went off as a British patrol was passing by in Al-Jubaylah, northern Basra, southern Iraq. The British forces also defused a second explosive charge at the scene of the explosion.

A joint US and Iraqi force is currently searching for 36 police recruits who were abducted last Monday as they returned from Baghdad to Samarra.

In Ramadi, US troops stormed Al-Qadisiyah Civil Defence Centre in Al-Ta'mim district in Al-Anbar Governorate, western Iraq. Al-Anbar civil defence director said that the US troops had stormed the center for the third time in 24 hours, noting that the US troops beat the guards of the centre and moved them outside the building before storming it. - MIDEASTWIRE.COM, Middle East
