Ninety-five people were killed and more than 150 others were wounded in an explosion in Al-Shurjah marketplace in central Baghdad at noon today. Security sources said that a booby-trapped car went off near Al-Shurjah marketplace in central Baghdad. Columns of heavy smoke were seen billowing from the site of the explosion. Two minor explosions followed, but there have been no details on them thus far.

A booby-trapped car driven by a suicide bomber went off on Jalalwa Khanaqin road at noon today. The booby-trapped targeted a number of cars carrying chieftains, who were on their way to Khanaqin to visit the headquarters of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan. Thus far, there have been no reports of casualties by local authorities.

Three people were killed and three others were wounded when an explosive charge went off in the Al-Qahirah neighbourhood in northeastern Baghdad.

Gunmen killed an Interior Ministry security guard and wounded another when they attacked a car in which the two guards were riding in the Zayyunah neighbourhood in eastern Baghdad.

In Al-Samawah, gunmen and attacked and killed a policeman last night.

Iraqi Police patrols found the bodies of 27 people in various areas in Baghdad.

The Iraqi Police found the bodies of five Iraqi soldiers, who were kidnapped by gunmen on Saturday, in the town of Al-Karmah in western Iraq. The bodies of three people, one of which believed to be of a student, were also found in Mosul.
