Al Sharqiyah TV:

A British military source said that two British bases in Basra came under RPG and Katyusha attacks Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. No material or human losses were reported."

A US military statement said that US troops killed a leading Al-Qa'idah figure, who is believed to be a member of the Mujahidin Shura Council, and arrested three people in Bayji, north of Baghdad. Some weapons and ammunition were seized, the statement added.

A US military statement said that a US soldier was killed in a combat operation in northern Baghdad Tuesday evening. No further details on the incident were provided.

Gunmen murdered three civilians in separate attacks Wednesday in Al-Khadra area, western Baghdad."

Seventeen people were abducted by armed men wearing Interior Ministry forces uniforms in a residential area in Al-Karradah, southern Baghdad. An Interior Ministry source said that gunmen, who were riding a number of military vehicles, surrounded a building which has residential flats and business offices. The 17 people were then taken to an unknown destination, the source added. A Defence Ministry source confirmed the abduction, but provided no further details. - Abrar, Iran
