In Ba'qubah, unidentified gunmen assassinated the director of the Scientific Care Unit at the Youth and Sports Department in Diyala Governorate. Al-Sharqiyah correspondent said that the gunmen shot and killed Mu'ayad Muhammad Tahir in the Al-Asri neighbourhood in the Al-Tahrir area in southern Ba'qubah yesterday evening. He also said that unidentified gunmen assassinated a person in Al-Alawi Street in central Ba'qubah this morning.

An Iraqi Police patrol was targeted by an explosive charge in the Al-Karradah area in southern Baghdad this morning. Police sources said that three members of the patrol's crew were martyred and four others were wounded in the explosion, adding that tight security measures were taken following the incident.

In another development, four policemen were martyred and 11 others were wounded in a suicide bombing attack in the Al-Saydiyah area in western Baghdad yesterday evening. An Iraqi police source said that a suicide bomber wearing an explosive belt blew himself up near an Iraqi Police checkpoint set up at the Rafah crossroad in the Al-Saydiyah area.

A booby-trapped car targeted a queue of cars at Gharnatah Gas Station in central Kirkuk north of Baghdad today. Iraqi Police sources said that ambulances rushed to the site of the explosion in which three people were martyred and 10 others were wounded.

Unidentified gunmen assassinated four people near the Department of Forensic Medicine in central Baghdad. The victims came to the Department of Forensic Medicine's morgue to take the bodies of three Palestinians, who were killed yesterday in an attack on their house in the Al-Baladiyat neighbourhood in eastern Baghdad. - MIDEASTWIRE.COM, Middle East
