A booby-trapped car was detonated near Al-Shurufi Mosque in Al-Sha'b area in northeastern Baghdad yesterday night, killing 11 people and wounding 41 others.

A booby-trapped car was detonated in front of the house of Abd-al-Karim Ali Yasin, member of the Council of Representatives representing Iraqi Al-Tawafuq Front, and the house of his brother As'ad Ali Yasin, head of Samarra District Municipal Council, in Al-Khadrah neighbourhood in Samarra. The explosion resulted in wounding As'ad Ali Yasin's four sons, two seriously, in addition to wounding his driver.

The US Army it is looking for three missing US soldiers in a traffic accident caused by flash floods near Ayn al-Asad Base in western Iraq.

Two children were martyred and three members of their family were wounded in an explosion, which took place at dawn today in their house, south of Baghdad.

One policeman was martyred and an officer wounded when their vehicle came under armed attack as they headed to work. A Basra police source said that gunmen fired at a car occupied by a policeman and an officer affiliated with the special communications directorate in the Al-Qiblah area in northern Basra, killing the policeman and wounding the officer.

Unidentified gunmen assassinated a legal adviser and two lawyers in two separate incidents in Basra yesterday. A source in the Al-Ashar area said that hooded men using a white civilian car attacked martyr Matar al-Ka'bi as he was in his car at night, killing him and wounding his colleague Isma'il Ali, who later succumbed to his wounds in the educational hospital. - MIDEASTWIRE.COM, Middle East
