Al Sharqiyah TV:

An explosive device went off in Basra Governorate in southern Iraq today. A Basra police source said a child was killed after sustaining wounds in the explosion, which took place at 0715 this morning in Al-Muwaffaqiyah neighbourhood in the centre of Basra.

Meanwhile, a security source in the city of Balad, north of Baghdad, said two members of the oil installations' protection guards were martyred by unknown gunmen's gunfire on the main road in the city.

US military forces are besieging the city of Anah on the pretext of searching for armed elements who target US military columns on the outer roads. Local residents said US military sources informed them of the intention to storm and position themselves in the city.

Kuwaiti news agency:

Three Iraqi officials survived assassination attempts in Baghdad, Ba'qubah and Kirkuk on Sunday, Iraqi security sources told Kuna. Gunmen opened fire at the car of Muhammad Amin Muhammad, judge of Al-Karkh Criminal Court, in Al-Hurriyah area in the capital Baghdad, the sources said on condition of anonymity. The judge was seriously wounded and he was rushed to Al-Kathimiya Hospital for treatment. In northeastern Ba'qubah, head of Al-Wajihiya District Isma'il Ilwan survived an attempt on his life when an improvised explosive device targeting his motorcade blew up, wounding three of his bodyguards. In the same district, gunmen killed an Iraqi policeman and his relative.

Meanwhile, in Kirkuk, northern Baghdad, an improvised explosive device planted in front of the house of Al-Muqdad police chief Adil Za'in al-Abdin blew up as the chief was leaving his house and heading to work. Only material damage was sustained. - MIDEASTWIRE.COM, Middle East
